Just for your information, did you know that Myriad v3.5 includes an ISRC lookup button that checks the PPL database for details.

In theory all you need is the ISCR number for copyright details but there is other info.

There is also a 'everyhit.com' lookup button in AutoTrack that performs a similar function.

We are working on our relationship with the copyright bodies at the moment and hope that in the future, we will be able to offer a solution using the PRS or PPL database but don't hold your breath as it is hard going (politics not technology)

thats promising. Anything that can make the slow process of cataloguing music easier has got to be good.

I understand about the commerical aspect but as previous mentioned, I think, having a 'hook' into Myriad would be useful so propeller headed users could make use of external API's or Myriad API's to extend the functionality of Myriad without compromisng our license agreement.

Hi,

Just a note about a slight change to Myriad v3.5.14.

Following on from a suggetion from Matt, we have added the option to look up artist details using wikipedia.

The option has always been there to enable this option for a Google search but it was always a bit hit and miss. Wikipedia however, seems to provide much more consistant information which is crucially in a predictable format with no flash or media players.

Once enabled, you can access this info by right clicking on a Cart or log item and selecting More Information > Display Artists Information From The Internet

This opens Wikipedia in a floating window and our test suggets it works very well.

This is an option built into 3.5.14 but you can use it now.

Go to Settings > Audio Settings > Global Audio Wall Settings and switch to the Other tab.

Then replace the link in the Artist Info URL (which will be for google) with

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/< ARTIST >

*** Important note, you need to remove the spaces from the above < ARTIST > tag when you put it into Myriad but the forum software helpfully removes it from the post of I leave spaces out!

If you have not used this feature before then you will also need to enable it using Settings > Myriad Settings > Myriad Settings and the General Options tab. Then tick the 'Display menu options to view Artist Informaiton on the Internet'. You need to also untick the option dircetly below (the 'If the above option is enabled jump straight to the first available Artist Information page option) and this appends a '&btnI=Lucky' to the posted URL which for Google would be the equivelent to clicking 'I feel lucky' but for Wikipedia would be meaningless and stop it working.

Myriad v3.5.14 offers these as drop down options so you can choose but Wikipedia will be the new default.

Just going to try somehting out and then I will be back with another suggestion.

yes you need to add a '<' then the word 'ARTIST' and another '>' to the end of the url in order for it for look up from the artist field or whatever is in line 2 of the cart.

Check out this OCP template file:

http://support.psquared.net/public/template.html

If you download this and then get OCP to output a web page based on this template then you will have a self refreshing page that displays the wikipedia entry for the currently playing Artist in Myriad.

As ever, I am no web designer so the layout could do with work but the concept works well.

Here is an example of it in action being driven in real time from one of our internal test playout boxes.

You can't hear the audio but you can watch the info update in real time.

Hi,

Just a note about a slight change to Myriad v3.5.14.
...

Just a quick note to confirm what liam noted above - v3.5.14 does indeed change the default to Wikipedia, and the option is now a drop down with 3 options that relate to Wikipedia, Google and "Lucky Google".

Because of this the option that liam notes above ("'If the above option is enabled jump straight to the first available Artist Information page") has been removed from v3.5.14 onwards as its now just selected by using the lucky google option.
