NOTE: This information only applied to v4.0.9. v4.0.12 and higher do not have this requirement.

We are currently recommending that Myriad v4.0.9 is not installed on a computer that is already running Myriad v3 because v3 and v4 use many of the same settings, and as Myriad v4 needs to use SQL Server, this setting is then picked up by v3 which also attempts to use it.

Because only Myriad v3 Enterprise could access a SQL Server, you will then find that your Myriad v3 refuses to launch because it isn't can't use that SQL Server connection.

However, we know that many people don't nescessarily have a spare PC laying around just to test v4, so there is a way of running the 2 on the same PC but you should only consider using this option if you are fairly technically competent as it is quite possible to do quite a bit of damage to your configuration settings if you get it wrong!

Basically the way to do this is to use "Multiple Configurations". This is a way of giving Myriad 2 (or more) totally independent sets of Configuration Settings. The first set (that you already have) you would use for Myriad v3, and you then create a second set that has the settings in for Myriad v4.

(See the Attachment for an example video showing how to do this)

To enable this feature, go into Myriad v3's  Emergency Recovery Tool, then click the "Myriad Settings" button that is to the right hand side of the Data File Location text box. This brings up the normal Myriad Settings window.

Then go to the Advanced Tab and in the top frame click the "Manage" button next to "Configuration Profiles". This will then open the Profile Management window. Click the option to "Allow P Squared Applications to use different configuration sets..." which will then enable the box below.

Click the green "Add" button and enter a suitable name like "Myriad v4" and click OK. Click "Yes" to acknowledge that you want to create the new profile.

Click "OK" to then close the Profile Management window, and confirm Yes. Finally click OK on the Myriad Settings window to finish the process. You can now close the Recovery tool.

If you now run Myriad v3 or Myriad Playout v4 you will be prompted for which Profile to use. For v3, use the existing "Profile 1", but for all Myriad v4 apps use the new profile you have created.

If you launch Myriad Playout v4 and choose that new profile it will then walk you through the Setup Wizard and you can choose all the settings you need including the SQL Server location.

Any changes you make to the Myriad Settings, File Locations and Audio Settings are all now separate from the Myriad v3 settings so won't cause any problems for your Myriad v3 setup.

Thats it, job done.
