This could mean that you have 2 different configurations, which allow you to choose between running with the standard network audio and running with an emergency local copy in case of network failure. To turn on the option, simply tick the Allow Multiple Configurations selection on the Options menu in Myriad configuration. Now restart Myriad Configuration, and you will be presented with a choice of configurations. At the moment you will only have the one default. To create a new configuration, highlight the one you already have, and choose Copy Configuration from the Options menu. You will be asked to give it a filename and description before it will appear for you to select it. You can now change any options you wish to be different for this configuration and then exit Myriad Configuration.Once turned on, the configurations will be available to choose from whenever Myriad is started. This is great if you need to switch between your configurations regularly, however, there are drawbacks. Firstly, it may cause confusion for some users and lead to them selecting the wrong configuration and therefore not having access to all audio or perhaps even the Q-Nxt log. Secondly, if the system restarts during the night, the auto restart will not be enabled until someone manually chooses a configuration to run with. If no one goes into the studio until the next morning, then the PC may sit there, not playing audio, for hours. To avoid this problem, you can specify which configuration file to use with a command line switch (see the command line FAQ for more options) on the shortcut that the machine runs at start-up. Edit the shortcut to Myriad and add /LI:<full path to an INI file> to the target line. Eg. \"C:\\Program Files\\P Squared\\Myriad\\Myriad.exe\" /LI:C:\\Winnt\\Myriad.ini

Compress / Repair a Database in Myriad v3

Myriad v3 uses two key databases, the Station Database (which contains settings and the Schedule Log) and the P Squared Directory database (which contains User settings and information). If Myriad is left running anywhere on your system then the repair will not be able to be performed and potentially you could further damage the database you are trying to repair. Also, if you are repairing the P Squared Directory you will also have to shut down any Scoop workstations (including Scoop Capture) any AutoTrack or AutoTrack Pro workstations and any copies of Powerlog Client that you are running. In all cases, you just have to quit the P Squared application, shutting down the box will not be necessary.

Next, run the Myriad Emergency Recovery Utility (Start > Programs > P Squared Myriad v3 > Utilities > Emergency Recovery Utility.

You will be warned that you should only use this utility if you are unable to use Myriad to make changes to your setup. Run Myriad Manager.

2. Make sure the Audio tab is selected.

3. Double click on the (Run A Custom Cart Report) option to run a Cart report.

4. Switch to the 'Last Modified' tab on the Audio Browser Options window and select the time frame you are interested in using either a specific date range (set start and end date) or a general time period (i.e. last 30 days using drop down list).

5. Once the results are displayed, highlight the Carts that you want to export.

Tip: You can sort the results by Cart Number by clicking on the 'Cart' column header. This can be used to select only Carts in the 'songs' range for example.

6. For every right there is a wrong, for every ying, there is a yang and while you are tucked up in bed dreaming of a Utopian society where dog and sheep work hand in hand and marmalade is freely available on the NHS, your poor Myriad system has had it’s hardest night of the year and without your help, may be on the verge of a nervous break down.

You see, the clocks going back is the hardest situation for Myriad to deal with effectively so it is best for us to make it as easy on the system as possible by taking the following steps.

As with the change from GMT to BST (see Clocks Go Forward) it is not really practical to take external news feeds during the time change period as Windows™, the PC bios and Atomic Clocks do not always agree on when exactly the time change occurs so it is best to give it a wide berth and assume that you will not take news from 1am to 4am. That way you can be sure that all the changes have occurred and the system is back on track by the time your early shift arrives.

The first thing to do is to go to the Hour Start marker for each hour (1am – 3am) and use the right click menu to change the Playout Mode to Auto (not Auto-Fade). This tells Myriad to ignore the time markers in each hour. The reason we only do 1am, 2am and 3am is that this will take us to 3:59am and the 4 am hour wants to run normally so we leave it alone.

Tip: You can use the Start Hour / Next Hour buttons to jump to the next Hour Start marker without having to scroll through the log.

The next thing that we need to do is to remove the Hardware Events between 1am and 4am to stop Myriad switching any external sources such as satellite news. To do this, go back to the 1am Hour Start marker and then scroll back in to the end of the 12am hour and right click on the Hardware Event that switches the news on just before 1 o’clock. Select Delete Permanently from the right click menu to remove the hardware item. This is important because if you remove the Hardware Event that turns that news off after the 1 o’clock break but do not remove the Hardware Item that turns it on then the news may well be stock on for several hours. You need to remove all of the hardware events between 1am and 3:59am to in the same way to ensure Myriad does not switch any external sources during the time change.

Finally, we need to add around 15 extra songs to the 2am hour to effectively make it a 2-hour show. This simplest way to do this is to find the 2am hour in the Log Screen and drag some songs in from the Audio Wall in to the Schedule Log. If you do not have a dual screen system then clicking on the Carts button on LOg Screen tab will open the Cart Browser which can be used to drag songs from the Audio Wall to the Schedule Log.

Tip: There is an upper limit to how many items can be inserted in to a single slot in the Schedule Log so you may find it better to spread the load a little by dragging 2-4 items in to one place in the log, then moving down a couple of songs and doing it again.

Search key words: BST, GMT, daylight savings, clock, back, forward Rugby.

Myriad v3 - GMT to BST (End Of March) - Clocks Go Forward

Myriad v3 GMT to BST (End Of March) – Clocks Go Forward (Part 1)

At the end of March, the time will jump forward by an hour at 1(ish) am effectively meaning that an hour of automated programming will be missed.

Of the two time changes, the clocks going forward is least likely have a serious affect on your automated output. If no action is taken, the system will run normally to around 1am and then the clock will jump forward to 2am. At this point, Myriad will believe that it is overrunning by 1 hour and will proceed to drop all the songs from the 1-2am hour. It can not drop jingles, promos, voice links or protected songs however, so these will play ensuring that the next news break is also missed.

The best way around this is to schedule as normal but once your log has been ‘pushed’ to Myriad, go in to the Log Screen and go to 1am on the morning of the time change.

Find the Hour Start marker for the 1am hour and right click on it. Expand the Change Hour Mode option and select Auto from the list.

This tells Myriad not to attempt to back time this hour of automation.

Next click on the Next Hour button which will jump you on to the next Hour Start marker (2am) and repeat the above process to switch that hour to Auto mode also. Also remember to remove any commands that automatically activate a news service such as IRN and wait for 3 minutes etc.

Repeat one more time with the 3am hour just in case your radio clock takes some time to update

Continued...

Search key words: BST, GMT, clock, forwards, backwards, daylight, savings, Rugby.

A user deleted a load of carts so I've restored the WAV Audio files from backups but they sometimes don't show on the Audiowall

This is quite common and it's becuase of the way Myriad recovers information in this situation.

To keep Myriad/Scoop/AutoTrack etc. running as fast as possible, we store the title and timing information in 2 places - one is in the WAV file itself and the other master copy is stored in the CartsXX.lst files. When you scroll around the Audiowall we display the information from the Cart List files becuase this is much faster to read.

When a user deletes a cart, the file is deleted and the relevant information is blanked over in the Carts List file.

When you then restore the wav file, Myriad doesn't know that the cart is now "back" so doesn't show the title and timing information in windows like the Audio Browser and the Jump To Cart window. However when you then view the cart on the main AudioWall window it magically appears in front of you. This is becuase at this point Myriad "sees" that there is seemingly blank cart but that has a WAV file. It therefore re-imports the information from the file and writes it back into the master Cart List files. Afterwards you can then see the cart in the browser and the Jump To Cart window as usual.

To fix this issue with lots of carts, you can either just scroll up the audiowall over the affected areas which will then detect and import each cart in turn, or you can run a report in Myriad Manager which finds carts with incorrect lengths or are missing and re-imports them - Click Run a Custom Cart Report and then select the options to correct this issue - that should resolve the problem for you (See picture below)

As a follow up note, In Myriad Manager you can view the Directory History report and this will show you who deleted the audio and when so that may help find the culprit :)

Myriad STS: Why is there a source and destination location for Log files?

While Myriad STS is running, it keeps the log file open so it can read and write to it as nescessary. This is to stop the file from being changed by the advert scheduling system while STS is in the middle or playing or otherwise manipulating the file.

Because of this, there has to be a mechanism to allow new or updated files to be copied into the system to be used. To achieve this, STS periodically checks the "source" location for new files and then copies them to the "destination" location which is where it actually runs from.

The log transfer process is relatively simple - whenever STS isn't actively playing an advert break it periodically checks the source folder looking for the file with the same filename as the "current" log file it's running from.

If it finds that the "source" file has changed since the last time it looked (i.e. been regenerated from your traffic system, or even just opened and "saved" in notepad which changes the lastmodified date) then it closes the file in the destination location, deletes it, copies the file from the source to the destination and then re-opens it. How often this check is done is configured by the "Check for new log files every X seconds" in the Log File Settings window.

STS only changes to a different log file in 3 situations:

When the last advert break in the current file is played, STS automatically looks for the "next" log file in the destination location. If it finds it it then loads it up. If it can't find it, it checks for it in the source location and if it finds one it copies it to the destination and then loads it up.
If Myriad instructs STS to cue up an advert break for a different day than the current log file, STS closes the current file and repeats the above cycle for the day it's been told to play. This is so a presenter can theoretically drag an advert break from tomorrow into the end of today
If you are using the "Automatic reload" options then when the clock ticks over to a new day and the reload option fires, it automatically loads the appropriate day.

Note: in most situations, Myriad users should never use the reload options as Myriad effectively tells STS when a log should be loaded and we've seen a fair few problems in the past where STS and Myriad have a falling out becuase STS decides it needs to reload the file and cue up a different break. The Log reloading options are more useful for situations where STS is being fired by hardware or serial commands. This is because if a command never reaches STS or is corrupted, it can lead to STS falling out of sync with a remote playout system and playing the wrong breaks when triggered.

Myriad STS: Where does the "View Advert Log" menu option read the Log file from

The View Advert Logs function by default looks at the destination location for the log file to display - if it can't find the file for the date you have specified though then it looks in the source location instead.

The window defaults to tomorrows date and usually won't find the actual log for tomorrow yet because STS only copies it in when it needs it - i.e. after the last advert break in the current day.

Therefore typically for today and previous days it will show the one in the destination location, but for tomorrow and future days it will show from the source location instead.

Schedule Log Importer Issue with Cart Group 100

Myriad STS v2.6.5 (and earlier) and Schedule Log Importer v2.6.26 (and earlier).THIS DOES NOT EFFECT AUTOTRACK / AUTOTRACK PRO v3 CUSTOMERS.A bug that has been found and fixed (available in the next beta versions) affects Cart Group 100. If you are doing it this way then it's worth writing a BAT file that runs from your startup group to remap the network drive should it get lost.

The advantage to the UNC method is that there is no drive mappings to get lost, but it does make it quite a bit harder to use when you want to browser for files etc.

Anyway - back to what we put in the folder:

Under this folder, create an Audiowall Folder, a Directory Folder, and a System Folder:

D:\PSquared
D:\PSquared\Audiowall
D:\PSquared\Directory
D:\PSquared\Myriad\\System

If you are running Scoop or Nexus then we suggest:

D:\PSquared\Nexus
D:\PSquared\Scoop

The reason for these folder names are that these are the ones that the new Setup Wizard looks for when it's checking for an existing data store.

When setting up Myriad, 'point' the Audiowall locations at the Audiowall folder, the P Squared Contacts Directory at the Directory folder, and the Myriad System Data Location at the System Folder.
Setting up Windows Media Encoder to allow OCP to control it

Setting up Windows Media Encoder to allow OCP to control it

(Please note: Windows XP users should see the notes further down as some of the screen shots are only applicable to Windows 2000)

First, check that Windows Media Encoder is fully installed and configured. The following assumes that both computers can \"see\" each other, and the network is working correctly. If this is not the case, please consult your system administrator, or other computer networking engineer.

Go into Control Panel, and double click Users and Passwords (this may be named differently depending on which Operating System you are running - the following assumes Windows 2000).

<See Image 7>

Click Add and follow the on screen instructions to add a standard user with the EXACTLY the same name and password that you are using to log on to Windows on the pc that OCP is using. If you are using \"Domain\" security, you will need to ask your System Administrator to do this for you.

You will then need to reboot the PC (and if OCP is running on a different PC, you will need to quit and restart OCP) and you should now be able to connect successfully to the Encoder.

Note that if OCP is running on a different PC, you should also install Windows Media Encoder on that PC. You don't have to configure or even run it - it's just that OCP needs to have it locally so it has the right files that it needs to control a remote encoder.

Myriad v2.6 - GMT to BST (End Of March) – Clocks Go Forward

GMT to BST (End Of March) – Clocks Go Forward (Part 1)

At the end of March, the time will jump forward by an hour at 1(ish) am effectively meaning that an hour of automated programming will be missed.

Of the two time changes, the clocks going forward is least likely have a serious affect on your automated output. If no action is taken, the system will run normally to around 1am and then the clock will jump forward to 2am. At this point, Myriad will believe that it is overrunning by 1 hour and will proceed to drop all the songs from the 1-2am hour. It can not drop jingles, promos, voice links or protected songs however, so these will play ensuring that the next news break is also missed.

The best way around this is to schedule as normal but once your log has been ‘pushed’ to Myriad, go in to the log on the Q-NXT screen and go to 1am on the morning of the time change.

Find the Hour Start marker for the 1am hour and right click on it.

As with the change from GMT to BST (above) it is not really practical to take external news feeds during the time change period as Windows™, the PC bios and Atomic Clocks do not always agree on when exactly the time change occurs so it is best to give it a wide berth and assume that you will not take news from 1am to 4am. That way you can be sure that all the changes have occurred and the system is back on track by the time your early shift arrives.

The first thing to do is to go to the Hour Start marker for each hour (1am – 3am) and use the right click menu to change the Playout Mode to Full Automation (not Full Automation, Run To Time).

This simplest way to do this is to find the 2am hour in the Q-NXT log and drag some songs in from the Audio Wall in to the log. If you do not have a dual screen system then clicking on the Carts button on Q-NXT will open the Cart Browser which can be used to drag songs from the Audio Wall to the Q-NXT Log.

Tip: There is an upper limit to how many items can be inserted in to a single slot in the Q-NXT log so you may find it better to spread the load a little by dragging 2-4 items in to one place in the log, then moving down a couple of songs and doing it again.

Search key words: BST, GMT, daylight savings, clock, back, forward Rugby.

Database format not recognised error (repairing a database)

Database format not recognised error (repairing a database)Before Repairing / Compressing a database, ALWAYS DO A BACKUP FIRST. It is better to have a backup of a damaged database that P Squared may be able to salvage than no database at all. TO backup a database, use Windows Explorer to locate the .MDB (database) file that you intend to Repair / Compress and copy it to an alternate location on your computer or another computer on your network. Before you start you must quit Myriad on EVERY PC in the building. This is really important because if Myriad is still running on any of them it may do more harm then good.Once you are sure that all the machines have quit Myriad (including all machines in the office, news room, studios etc) then run Myriad Configuration on one of the machines.Click on the Database Utilities tab and then click on the Compress / Repair a Database button. You will be warned that you need to quit Myriad on all machines, click on OK to continue. Now you will see an explorer style box that allows you to find a file on your system. It should already be in the Myriad system folder (as it will get that information from Myriad) and you should see a number of folders - to check you are in the right place, one of them is called \"Schedule\".Now we need to locate the database that we want to repair. In a default Myriad installation, each type of database used by Myriad is located in a different folder. This list shows what databases are located where but you should bear in mind that you or anybody could have altered these locations at a previous date:Myriad v2Database: Q-NXTDefault Folder: ScheduleDefault File Name: QNXT26.mdbDatabase: AutoTrackDefault Folder: AutotrckDefault File Name: Database.mdbDatabase: UsersDefault Folder: UsersDefault File Name: Users25.mdbDatabase: AdvertsDefault Folder: Myriad\\system (not in it's own folder)Default File Name: Clients.mdb or Adverts.mdbLets say that we want to repair the Q-NXT database. Double click on the Schedule folder and locate the Q-NXT database that you want to repair.N.B. If you have used Myriad for a while, there may be several QNXT databases left from previous versions. You may also have multiple databases if you have more than one station using your Myriad system or if you have changed the station name in the past. In you are in doubt, quit the repair process and check which Q-NXT database you are currently using by clicking on the Q-NXT Settings button on the Local Settings tab. - The same may be true for any other databases that want to repair so always make sure that you are repairing the correct database before proceeding.Highlight the database you want to repair (in the case testmusicq26.mdb) and click on the Open button. The Repair / Compress function will automatically start BUT NO PROGRESS BAR WILL APPEAR ON SCREEN. Instead you may see the mouse cursor turn to an 'hour glass' and stay that way for several minutes. The repair / compact function can take some time (10 minutes is not unheard of) so even although it may appear as if the computer has 'hung' it is not likely to be the case so be patient.Once the Repair / Compress process is completed, you will see a confirmation message box. Click on OK to return to Myriad Config. All of the databases can be repaired and compacted in Myriad using the above method.Search key words: corrupted database, wrong version number, incorrect format, repair, compress, rebuild, index, .mdb.

Audio file missing, but Cart still shows on the AudioWall

The title and timing information for all Carts on the Audiowall is stored in the appropriate CartsXX.lst file - there is a backup copy kept in the Wav file in the \"CartChunk\", but Myriad, Scoop, AutoTrack etc. all use the master info in the list file because reading this file is significantly faster than having to open and read the info from the wav file. Because of this you can accidentally delete the wav file but still have the title and timing information on the Audiowall. Likewise if a user edits a Wav file without going through Myriad or Scoop, the timing info also then gets out of wack. This is why it's always important that users edit via the app rather than directly :-) When you click Edit inside one of our Apps, we rescan the wav file and update the lengths to match (it's a double check that no user has been sneaky). When you click to go into Cool Edit it then creates an empty file so that Cool has something to open which is why you see the empty line. The good news is that there is a report in Myriad Manager that you can use to get a list of all carts with Mismatched lengths - this will show carts that have either been edited outside of Myriad/Scoop or where the audio length is >0 but the file is missing - i.e. audio is therefore <=0

New version of Myriad Manual uploaded

HelloWe have just uploaded a new version of the Myriad Manual which includes a trouble shooting section, appendix covering various hardware configurations and documentation for the Emergency Recovery Utility. Some of the earlier screen shots have been updated to the most recent GUI as well. Please note that whilst this will not be the final draft (as it is still being edited), we do not expect to expand this manual until Myriad v3.1. Myriad Manager is covered by a separate document that will be available soon. The DOC version is a hefty 61MB but a PDF version will be uploaded next week. If you want to print it, make sure you get a couple of reams of paper as it now tips the scales at 1000+ pages. You can get it from the link below. Well we are finally on the home stretch with only a few sections on the menu system to still be covered. The problem is that many of you have had to push on with Myriad without documentation and we are aware that even once the final sections are completed, the manual still needs editing and reviewing prior to final release. With this in mind, I have decided to upload an un-edited copy of the manual as it stands so that users can at least have a reference to refer to. The document that has just been uploaded has some sections of the settings menu missing and has not been edited yet so it is bound to be full of spelling mistake, typos and generally unfocused sections but I hope that it will be useful to some users. If you wish to download the document, please feel free to do so but be warned that even with the images compressed, it still weighs in at a heavy 58MB so you will need a broadband connection to download it realistically. It is also in DOC format so you will need Word(tm) or similar to read it.Any constructive comments, mistakes or omissions are gratefully received. Finally, the documentation has been in development as long as Myriad has so some of the earlier sections may refer to options or screen layouts that have been modified since writing. These will be updated before the final draft is released. If you are interested, you can download it from here.http://support.psquared.net/products/myriad/v3.0/default.htmFor statisticians among you, the currently the Myriad Manual has 762 pages with 5,430 paragraphs, 19,349 lines and 136,001 words. It also stores extra information such as who was logged in to Myriad, which player was used, whether any Hardware lines were active etc. This information is needed to either generate copyright returns, and also to help diagnose problems with audio not playing the way it should. To save space, Myriad doesn't store the name of the computer that plays the item. Instead it stores the Play Log with an \"ID\" number. Each computer has a unique ID number so it is easy for the system to work out which computer played the cart. One thing that perhaps isn't obvious is that Myriad v2 and v3 store theirlist of computer IDs differently. In Myriad v2 they are stored in a filecalled Terminal.lst and there is one entry for each License that you hadpurchased. The ID number you are using was known as the PowerNet ID and it is this number that is stored in the Play logs to identify which computer played the cart. With Myriad v3 each computer running is licensed independently so there is no need to have this file limited in the same way - therefore the computers are stored in a different file called Computer3.lst. The ID that computer is using is therefore known as the Computer ID instead. Again, it is this ID that is used to identify which computer played each cart in the Play Logs. Because the 2 files are independent, the same computer may have (in factusually do) have different ID numbers when running Myriad v2 and Myriad v3. When we designed the new system, we contemplated trying to keep the numbers in sync, but this wasn't possible becuase of the many other differences in the file structures and the licensing methods. The good news is that Myriad v3's reports only ever use the new Computer3 list, so there is never any confusion over which is which. However in some older versions of AutoTrack, the Cart Play Logs reports have been updated to read the Computer list. Newer releases of AutoTrack v3 have had this problem solved though so you should consider updating to the latest version.

Setting up Windows to automatically Login and run Myriad

By default, when you start Windows it may sit waiting for you to Login - not ideal if the PC has just rebooted due to a power outage and you want to get back on air automatically!Note: PC's supplied by P Squared are setup this way by default, and Step 4 is actually the default for Station Databases anyway :)There are 4 steps to take to help you get back on air easily.First - Set the PC to turn itself OnGo into the Bios and look for an option that says something like \"Power on after AC back\". Make sure this is set to Memory (i.e. whatever it was before the power went off) or ideally \"Full On\" - so it will always turn itself on.Second - Set Windows to AutoLoginMyriad v3 has a built in option to activate Windows' Automatic Logon feature (logs in to Windows when it loads with a given username and password). This is exactly the same as the TweakUI feature from Microsoft. To use it, on the Setting Menu, choose Myriad Settings and then click on the Advanced Tab. About half way down you will see the Automatic Logon Settings frame. Click the Change button and enter the details of a Windows Account that can log on to the computer. Click OK and then Click OK again to close the Myriad Settings Window.Third - Make sure Myriad is automatically loading when Windows StartsWhen Windows boots up and logs in, it automatically runs any Programs in the Startup group on the Programs menu of the Start Menu. To add items into this, right click on the Start button and choose the Explore All Users option. If you don't see this, you aren't logged on as an Administrator. You can choose just \"Explore\", but this will only allow you to start Myriad for the currently logged on user - if you log on to windows as someone else then it won't work.In the explorer window that has opened, navigate into the P Squared Myriad Folder, highlight the main Myriad program icon. On the Edit menu, click \"Copy\".Now navigate back up to the Programs folder and go into the Startup folder. On the Edit menu click \"Paste\".You can then close the Explorer window.Myriad will now be automatically started when Windows Logs in.Fourth - Automatically restart the LogMyriad can automatically detect if it was playing out from a Log before the power failed. It can then be set to automatically reload the last log and start running it after a short delay (This gives a user stood in front of the PC a chance to cancel the process should they need to.)With the appropriate Station Database open, on the Settings menu click Station Database Settings. At the bottom of the General Tab you will see the Miscellaneous Settings Frame. In this, turn on the \"If Myriad is shut down unexpectedly, automatically restart after X seconds\" and set the seconds to something appropriate - i.e. 10 seconds.

Configuring Linker, Selector and Myriad to Work together

If you are using RCS™ Linker™ to schedule Jingles and scripts into a Selector™ log for importation into Myriad, you will need to be able to configure Audio / Non-Audio item Link Designs. Please refer to your Linker™ manual for further details, however:Go into the edit screen for the Myriad output format, go to parameters and set the stopset option (top right) to “Different designs for categories levels” (option 3) Go back to Link design which then comes up with 8 different design options and an assignment tool. This is sometimes known as a "Doughnut" because you talk in the hole in the middle.

In this case you will set the "Intro Start" after this initial vocal, so any embedded item will

This is assuming you have have \"run the orange\" to actually try importing the advert breaks into the Q-NXT Log :DThis usually happens in commercial radio if either programming or the traffic dept change the \"reference\" times that advert breaks are being scheduled/imported and don't tell the other dept.AutoTrack users when inserting advert break entries into their Clocks/Running Orders give each ad break a \"reference\" time - say XX:20 and third party scheduler users (i.e. Powergold/selector) do the same with the \"BREAK XX:20\" text note. This is imported into Q-NXT as an \"Unscheduled Advert Break\" with a reference time of 20 minutes past the current hour - i.e. in a 9am hour, the reference time is therefore 09:20.Each advert in the advert log also contains a reference time. For example this advert log line is for the 09:25 break:09:25:00| | 1003|PEPPERAMI Hokey Kokey2 | 20|20021009090000002The key bit is the first field (this may only be 09:25 on some systems)If the two don't match up then the Log Importer can't find an unscheduled break to put the break into.In the example above, the Advert Log Importer (the orange) looks through the log file processing each break in turn. When it comes across each break (in this case the 09:25 break) it then looks through the q-nxt log for a matching Unscheduled Advert Break with a Reference time of 09:25 .Becuase our Q-NXT log only has a break at 09:20 it therefore won't find one and won't import the ads into the break. The solution is to either re-schedule your ads with the same times as the Q-NXT log, or unschedule the music log and again re-schedule with the same times as the advert log.Simple :)

Why does audio sometimes stutter when I change Q-NXT Mode?

This information is only applicable to Myriad v2.This usually only happens on computers that aren't running the latest Windows Updates (as well as the latest MDAC and JET 4 Service packs from http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/downloads/updates/default.aspx ) or if you have a large number of Myriad terminals running simultaneously. The reason this happens is when Myriad writes an event to the user history and another computer has left a database \"lock\" on part of the user history so Myriad has to wait a mo until the lock is lifted. If it has to wait more than 4 or 5 seconds then the audio can stutter slightly as it tries to keep up.The workaround is to \"Inhibit the User History\" - this stops a given terminal writing anything to the user history so the problem never arises. The only draw back to this is obviously you can't see when users edit/delete carts or change the q-nxt log mode as these are inhibited from being written. To Inhibit the User History, quit from Myriad and go into Myriad Configuration. On the menu bar at the top, click Options then click Inhibit User History. then quit Myriad Config and restart Myriad. That should be it :-)

Myriad STS: Breaks being dumped unexpectedly?

Myriad STS v2.6.5 (and earlier)

In a \"Live\" hour, if you have a Q-NXT log that contains two split break entries one after another and they have been set to stop after the break (i.e. Red Dot) this will cause the first break to be dumped.

The STS Master machine constantly checks with Q-NXT to find out what is coming next and it also informs Q-NXT when it can start again.

In this scenario, the first break is cued and then told to play by Q-NXT, once that information has been sent, Q-NXT will want to cue the next item ready for playout, this however is another split break. So it now tells STS to cue the next break, which dumps the current break.

If you do need to play two split breaks back to back, they must be separated by at least one audio entry in the Q-NXT log.

Where have my Jump buttons Gone?

If you discover that your \"Jump\" buttons on the Audiowall are missing or have been replaced by the \"Action\" buttons (See graphic) then this a problem that can easily be rectified. This mode is enabled when we don't have enough screen space to display everything we want to see. To do this: Take a complete copy of the Ad Manager folder from the installation CD onto the myriad machine where it will finally live (It can only be installed on a licensed Myriad Terminal) and then create a shortcut to the Ad Manager.exe on your desktop.Run the program, goto the settings menu>Q-NXT Database Settings>Ads/Log Import. On the bottom section of this window you need to put a tick in the box for \"Schedule Adverts\" - this will enable the select button. Click select, this will then open the database chooser, from the \"Options\" menu of this window, create a new database. Make sure that you give it an obvious filename and description so that you don't get confused with the other databases you are storing. When you have created the clients database you will unlock the functionality of the Advanced Advert Manager, the screen now appears as shown on page 8 of the Advanced Advert Manger Manual.

Setting Up Hardware Inputs (PCI1750) To Control Cart Players

Myriad can use hardware inputs from a PCI1750 to trigger a number of events. The most common application is for hardware inputs to control Cart Players so that they can be remote controlled by buttons on your mixing desk or from other external devices.

In this FAQ, we will look at how to use inputs to a PCI1750 hardware card to start the Cart Players however, the same method would be used for using any hardware inputs in Myriad.

1. Close Myriad on the machine you want to use the hardware inputs on.

2. Ensure that the PCI1750 hardware card is installed correctly and is working. See Topic203-9-1.aspx

3. Ensure that the PCI1750 is wired correctly to your mixing desk (or other external device). See Topic207-9-1.aspx#309 for an example using an Alice Aire2000 mixing desk.

4. Run Myriad Config (Start>Programs>P Squared Myriad>Configuration typically).

5. Click on the Hardware Setup button.

6. Select the PCI1750 for the Card Type (the Hex address will be automatically detected)

7. As we are wanting an input in to Myriad to trigger the Play button on each Cart Player, we are interested in the Input lines to the PCI1750. In this example, we will assume that Input lines 1 - 4 will be connected to the hardware output on the mixing desk and so will be configured to Play Cart Players 1 - 4 accordingly.

8. Tick the 'L' column if your want Myriad to trigger on a hardware Low input. This will depend on the device generating the hardware. In simple terms, you can either have it so it is 'off' and Myriad triggers the Cart Player when the hardware is switched 'on' or you can have it so it is 'on' most of the time and Myriad only reacts when the hardware is switched 'off'. This will be determined by the mixing desk but in general, if it does not work one way, try ticking the 'L' column to 'flip' the logic.

Super Tip - You can skip then next 4 steps by selecting the first four Inputs in the Action column and selecting Player Control from the drop down menu. Myriad will automatically fill in the detail for the next 4 steps.

9. Type in a suitable Description for each i.e. Play 1, Play 2 etc.

10. Use the drop down list to select Cart Control in the Action column for each Input (you will see there are a number of other options here which are covered in the Myriad manual).

11. Select a different Cart Player for each input using the drop down list on the Info 1 column i.e. Cart Player 1, Cart Player 2 etc.

12. Select Play using the drop down list in the Info 2 column for each of the inputs.

13. Click on OK to save the changes.

14. Click on File > Exit to close Configuration.

15. Run Myriad and test you remote starts

Tip - If you double click on the Hardware Manager icon in the system tray (an icon with a P Squared logo and some wires down on the bottom right of your start bar by the time) then you can view the hardware inputs in to Myriad to see if it is working. You can also manually trigger hardware inputs from here if you want to test other hardware events.

Also see Topic207-9-1.aspx for how to wire the hardware and Topic203-9-1.aspx for how to install the PCI 1750.

N.B. The same procedure is used to configure Joystick Inputs to trigger Cart Players. The HTML that you would need to do this would look something like:

<p align="center">Now Playing: <OCP_NOW_ARTISTNAME1> with <OCP_NOW_ITEMTITLE></p>

OCP would replace the two OCP tags with the actual song title and artist then automatically upload it to your website.

There is a little more to it than that but if you understand this simple example then you can handle designing an OCP powered website. Why not take a look at the OCP Documentation for more information on OCP and what it can do for you.

Search key words: OCP, frontpage, dreamweaver, update, tag, artist, title, now, next.

Can OCP update things other than web pages?

Can OCP update things other than web pages?Yes, OCP can update files, WAP sites and DAB DLS text. Basically, your web site needs to 'refresh' periodically for the new information to be displayed. This is complicated further by the fact the we must stop the web site from being 'cached' locally otherwise the updates will never be seen by the person viewing your web site. Fortunately, there are a couple of simple 'meta tags' that can be added to your site to get around these problems. There are two methods of adding these tags to your web pages:Automatically Adding ThemWhen you set up the pages to be updates by OCP you get the option to automatically add the tags to the pages that OCP updates.
