OCP and Twitter

Hi all,

Within the last couple of days Twitter has turned off one of the 2 methods they use to allow applications to automatically post messages - not unexpected as they have been saying for a year or two that they were planning to!

Unfortunately this is the method that OCP uses to update twitter feeds, so this effectively stops OCPv2 from being able to 'talk' to twitter.

The remaining update method that does work can't be included in OCPv2 so we won't be able to restore this function.

We are looking at ways to use the remaining method and are hopefull that we'll be able to include support in a future application, but there aren't any timetables for when this might be available I'm afraid.

New Utility - P Squared Debug File Deleter

Hi All,

We've just released a little utility that can be used to purge off older Debug files.

Debug files are created when running our products in 'Debug Mode' which you usually only do when Technical Support needs to gather extra information when tracking down a problem.

Usually you would only run in Debug mode for a short while as it can slow down your softare as it writes the debugging information to a series of files.

If you are running Debug for a longer period of time then these files can start to take up a lot of space on your hard disk.

This utility allows you to automatically purge the older debug files off after a number of days.

When you run the exe it will tell you what 'command line options' you need to use. The ideal way to use it would be to use the Windows Task Scheduler to schedule it to run every day and set it to (for example( purge off logs that are 5 days old or older.

Myriad v3.5.15 Upgraded to Full (including RES/RVT/Ad Manager etc.)

By comparison to previous updates, this is a HUGE update and contains quite a few new features as well as a few bug fixes.

First thing is that this is probably the largest simultaneous release we've ever done - we are publishing 10 new Myriad/related products at the same time. Basically all members of the Myriad family, Myriad Network and OCP.

Some of the New Myriad Features include:

[b]Nearby Play history on the More information window[/b] - this shows you nearby plays/schedled plays of an audio item as far as the Scheduled Log is concerned.
[b]Title Lookup[/b] - you can now search the internet by Song Title - the default is to use Last.FM. This and Artist lookup now support MusicBrainz as well
[b]Import Wizard[/b] now automatically detects and scans USB devices as they are plugged in making it much easier to bring in new files from portable recorders etc.
[b]Import wizard[/b] has a new link to take you straight to the music download service that we are now offering - please contact sales@psquared.net for more information.
[b]Scheduled Log[/b] now shows "Next Segue" in a coloured bar making it much more obvious how long you have left.
[b]Myriad Network[/b] users will also see lots of changes, also for speech based stations.

[b]If you are installing Myriad v3.5.15 on a computer that also has other v3.5 programs installed (such as Myriad Advert Manager or the Audiowall Auto-Importer then you must also upgrade these to the v3.5.15 versions - you cannot mix-and-match v3.5 programs on the same computer.

The Advert Manager also recieves a few updates and fixes, most importantly regarding distribution of adverts across multiple breaks in hours.

We are also releasing new v3.5.15 releases of Myriad Anywhere and Monitor, also Remote Voice Tracking and Edit Server so if you are using earlier beta versions of these tools then it's definitely worth upgrading to these new beta versions.[/b]

Myriad Network v3.5.15 Upgraded to Full Release

This is a big update and there are matching versions of Myriad, Myriad Monitor, Myriad Network Master and Myriad Network Director. These contain quite a few new features as well as a few bug fixes.

The main changes are :

Cart groups can now be time stretched (if TS is enabled)
When editing an Advert Break you can now modify the overall Length to Time stretch to (if TS is enabled)

Improved operation with Network Master when 'dumping' breaks or groups early.

You can now limit the ranges of carts are written to REC files - ideal if your log contains non-advert items.

Improved Remote Connection monitoring - you can now see more details about which computers are connected to you.

Extra data customistaion for users connecting to other 3rd Party playout systems via IP or Serial

Myriad v3.5.14 Beta Release

By comparison to previous updates, this is a fairly mild update but does contain quite a few new features as well as a few bug fixes.

Most of the changes are more for technical users rather than general users - for example several new Macro Commands and Configurable Export Filename formats.

One big change is the operation of the Artist Lookup which now uses Wikipedia instead of a basic google search. You can alter this behaviour via the Global Audiowall Settings.

We strongly recommend that you have a read of the Update Information for full details.

If you are installing Myriad v3.5.14 on a computer that also has other v3.5 programs installed (such as Myriad Advert Manager or the Audiowall Auto-Importer then you must also upgrade these to the v3.5.14 versions - you cannot mix-and-match v3.5 programs on the same computer.

OCP V2.6.59 Beta Release

This is quite a large update since the previous release of OCP and contains many new features, particularly for OCP+ users.

One of the biggest changes is the inclusion of "Help" - available (oddly) from the Help menu.

Other new features are the addition of "fillers" for Dab and Serial outputs - these allow OCP to send different strings each time it does an update - for example you might set your DAB output to display a station tag line or contact details alternating with the Now Playing info etc.

OCP+ Serial Outputs can now be used to automatically activate TA flags on RDS recievers.

OCP+ users can also now use OCP to update twitter feeds - for an example please have a look at [url=http://twitter.com/purgatoryfmlive]http://twitter.com/purgatoryfmlive[/url]

OCP+ can also now be used to read from a text file instead of directly from Myriad which is ideal for station using other Playout Systems.

It also fixes a couple of problems with Item Start Date and Time from Myriad v3.5

File Monitor v1.0.2 Upgraded to Full Release

Another week, another new tool - this time the Beta release of the P Squared File Monitor. It's available now from the download area at [url=http://support.psquared.net/Products/FileMonitor/v1.0/]http://support.psquared.net/Products/FileMonitor/v1.0/[/url]

The tool is a very useful util that will watch 1 or more files and let you know when it either A) Changes, or B) Hasn't changed in a number of minutes. When triggered it sends a notification email to one or more addresses letting you know.

It even supports dynamic filenames using Date and Time strings.

Some examples of good uses would be :

1) Monitor the Myriad daily Play Logs (or the Station Database for that matter) and email you if it hasn't been modified in >15 minutes suggesting that Myriad is not doing anything.

2) Monitor a folder looking for when a new file is dropped in there (perhaps via FTP) such as an Advert Log so you know it's ready for import.

This is the first release of this product and we strongly suggest you test it thoroughly before using on a wider scale.

AutoTrack v3.1.44 Upgraded to FULL Release

This is a maintenance release and fixes a small number of issues, particularly with a window issue with Windows 7 and also improved support for non-English users.

This is yet another considerable update to Myriad v3.5 and contains dozens of improvements and quite a few updates and fixes as well.

It has taken a lot longer to get v3.5.12 ready because we've also been working very hard on a set of great new tools that we are releasing today as well:

- [b]Audiowall Podcast Creator[/b] - Myriad now ships with the new "Podcast Creator v3.5" which allows you to easily right click on any cart on your Audiowall and 'Export to Podcast' which then automatically uploads the file to your website ready for download. This is installed when you install Myriad - you will find it under "P Squared Audiowall\Tools" on your Start Menu.

- [b]Audiowall Processor[/b] - Myriad now also ships with the new "Audiowall Processor v3.5" which allows you to perform several key batch processes on multiple carts automatically. The new Audiowall Processor can intelligently Converts Carts to Stereo/Mono, Normalise, TimeStretch and even convert to a different audio format (i.e. batch convert to WMA/mp3). This is also installed when you install Myriad - you will find it under "P Squared Audiowall\Tools" on your Start Menu. [i] [b]Because this tool is very powerful you should take a full backup of your Audio before running it on any carts.[/b][/i]

- [b]Audiowall Auto-Importer[/b] - This fantastic new tool is a complete re-write of the original v2.6 Tool and allows you to monitor multiple folders on your computer/server for new Audio files. Whenever it sees a new file with a number in the filename it automatically imports that file into the specified cart, making sure it's the correct format and can even normalise during the import. It can also import Transport Files as well as monitoring an existing Audiowall to make sure that any new files dropped 'behind' Myriad are automatically imported and displayed on the Audiowall. It even emails you a notification whenever a new cart is imported, and if it fails to import it will email you to tell you why - ideal for sending News cuts to remote newsrooms or distributing links and songs to sister stations.

All Myriad v3 users who have purchased at least 1 license multipack are entitled to a free copy of Auto-Importer for use at their station. It's yet another release this week - two in fact : Myriad Anywhere and Myriad Monitor v3.5.12.

Myriad Monitor allows you to remotely connect to Myriad v3.5 or Myriad Network v3.5 using TCP/IP to view the Log and Cart Players. It can connect to up to 18 Myriad's simultaneously (using dual screen, 9 per screen) so it's ideal for monitoring small or large installations.

Myriad Anywhere allows you to connect to a single computer running Myriad v3.5 and have basic control over the log (Go, Soft delete) as well as firing Instant Carts. It does not allow much Log Editing as it's primarily designed for simple operation whilst on Outside Broadcasts etc.

These are very early releases of this product and we strongly suggest you test it thoroughly before using on a wider scale.

Both Myriad Anywhere and Monitor are priced separately, so please contact your account manager for more information.

Myriad Remote Voice Tracking v3.5.12 Beta Release now available

We are extremely pleased to announce yet another release this week - Myriad Remote Voice Tracking and Remote Edit Server v3.5.12.

The Myriad Remote Voice Tracking and Remote Edit Server Advert Manager v3.5.12 releases are available now from the Myriad v3.5 Support Pages - [url=http://support.psquared.net/products/myriad/v3.5/]http://support.psquared.net/products/myriad/v3.5/[/url]

Until now Myriad users have had to use the v3.0 RVT and RES software which does work well with Myriad, but has the slightly older look and feel, and isn't as tightly integrated with the v3.5 suite as we would like. It also cannot work under Windows 7.

The new v3.5 versions are fully compatible with Windows 7 and has been quite heavily optimised to give a much faster response, particularly on slower connections.

Although there aren't many new features, it does simplify many of the common adminstration tasks - for instance the same Normalisation levels are applied to both local and remote recorded links. You also now administer the 2 separate "Local" and "Remote" Ranges in the standard Station Database Settings window.

On an operational note, v3.0 clients cannot connect to a v3.5 server, and likewise, v3.5 clients cannot connect to a v3.0 server, so you will need to deploy both RES and RVT to use the new version. As with the main Myriad suite v3.0 and v3.5, you should be able to run both versions side by side on the same computer though.

The default TCP/IP ports it uses on the firewall have also changed to TCP 6942 and 6943.

This is a very early release of this product and we strongly suggest you test it thoroughly before using on a wider scale.

BootStuff v1.0.7 Beta Release now available

The major change is much better support for Vista and Windows 7 Users will as BootStuff no longer stores its configuration information in the registry.

Support for 64 bit OS is also much better as BootStuff now detects the correct location for the Program Files Folder on x64 systems.

BootStuff is a free download and you do not need a password to download it. P Squared Technical Support are unable to provide direct support for this application. This is a beta version so you should read the update Information and Beta Explanation carefully before installing.

AutoTrack v3.1.43 Upgraded to Full Release - improved Myriad v3.5.9 and v3.5.11 Support!

Hello all,

AutoTrack v3.1.43 has now been upgraded to Full Support available and can be downloaded from the AutoTrack area v3 Support Pages - http://support.psquared.net/Products/AutoTrack/v3.1/

There are several changes in this release, but the main item is a fix for users who experienced problems with AutoTrack v3.1 and Myriad v3.5 with the Category, Content or Audio Type (i.e. Wav/mp3 etc.) information being lost after editing or importing the item in AutoTrack.

This release includes special handling that prevents AutoTrack from erasing the special v3.5 only information when saving the carts back to the Audiowall.

Please note that the Category Information assigned on the Audiowall is NOT used when adding a Song or Link to the AutoTrack database. This feature will be included in a future release of AutoTrack v3.5

Myiad v3.5 Full Release

Today, we are happy to announce the full release of Myriad v3.5.

This new version of Myriad has been in development for the past two years and represents a significant step forward for the product line with a number of hotly anticipated features.

As with all new releases of mission critical software, we recommend that you install the updated version alongside your existing Myriad v3.0 install and take some time to familarise yourself with the software (and check it works OK with your hardware) before contemplating putting live 'to air'.

We have completed extensive 'in house' testing of Myriad v3.5 as well as running a prolonged 'beta' program, so don't expect many users to expereince difficulties, but should you encounter any problems, please take note of the situation and submit the details along with your system credentials to support@psquared.net

Myriad v3.5 introduces native support for MP3, WMA and Ogg audio files along with innovative new features such as Instant Track and enhanced audio editing options. The system is also Vista compatible although we still recommend you stick with XP Pro if you have the choice.

There are some additional settings and configuration options which you will need to familarise yourself with before you attempt to download Myriad v3.5 so please visit http://support.psquared.net/products/myriad/v3.5/ and read through the release notes carefully before you download the new Myriad v3.5 installer.

We are extremely proud to announce that Myriad v3.5 is now available as a Full Release meaning that it is fully supported by the P Squared Support Team and suitable to used 'On-Air'

This Release Version is v3.5.9 which was previously available as a Beta Release and has now successfully completed it's beta period.

There are a huge number of changes from Myriad v3.0 to v3.5 but we are confident that the vast majority of users will not have any difficulty learning to use the new version, and will appreciate the new features and improved 'front-end'.

Important: There are a few items that you should consider before migrating from v3.0 to v3.5 and we have detailed these in the Release Notes which you will see prior to downloading the installer, or click here to see them now.

We recommend downloading the new version and having a good play with it on a test computer before rolling it out across your station so you can evaluate the new features, as well as uncover any problems or issues you will have when you do then deploy it 'On-Air'.

Myriad v3.5 installs alongside Myriad v3.0, so you can always revert back to Myriad v3.0 if you do have any problems.

If you are happy with the features that Myriad v3.0 provides, then please don't feel that you have to upgrade immediately - we will still be providing support for v3.0 for some time yet so there is no rush to upgrade at all.

If you are using an earlier Release of Powerlog v3.6 then we would encourage you to plan to upgrade to this version as soon as possible as it contains a couple of fixes to key areas of operation.

This version contains a couple of key changes, so please have a read of the Update Information to see if you need the new facilities.

The most important changes are a raft of optimisations to the Log Processor that should reduce the load on the system while it prepares its lists. This was particularly noticable on logs stored for long periods of time (i.e: many months). There are no changes to Client. Nexus v1.0.7 Now available Including Vista Support

Update: This version has now been upgraded to Full Release Status.

This is the first version of Nexus designed to operate on both Windows XP and Windows Vista.

This version also changes the way Talkback works so it's now a docked panel rather than a separate pane, this way you can see if from all the other panes.

It also adds upgraded support for Multiple Profiles, as well as a change to the Graphics Engine that improves the display speed.

Please note that the Z-Text Modem is no longer supported, the only supported SMS modem is currently the Samba modem. Do not install this version if you are using the Z-Text Modem.

Full Release: Scoop Edit and Capture v3.0.36 now available (Including Vista Support)

Update: This version has now been upgraded to Full Release Status.

Scoop Edit and Capture v3.0.36 are now available as Beta Products and can be downloaded now from the support area at - http://support.psquared.net/products/scoop/v3.0/

The changes for each version are listed in the Update Information file - you can read this by clicking the link next to each download. There is also a link to a document that explains our Beta policy.

The big news with this release is that it is the first version of Scoop that has been designed to operate under Windows Vista as well as Windows XP. Obviously Vista is a big change to Windows XP, and we have only done preliminary testing on it - more details can be found at http://support.psquared.net/vista.htm

The other big news is the ability to import mp2, mp3, OGG and WMA files directly onto the Audiowall. You have always been able to do this via Scoop Capture, but you can now manually import files directly using the Right click>Import option. Please note that unlike Myriad v3.5, you can only import these file formats, the actual audio format is still WAV files

Windows XP Service Pack 3

Hi All,

We have been testing Myriad v3.0 and v3.5 on XP SP3 for several months here at P Squared Towers, and have encountered no problems with it at all.

AutoTrack v3 and OCP v2 have also been running on these machines, and again no issues found.

We are currently testing Scoop Edit and Capture v3 but we don't expect to find any issues with these so there should be no problem there either.

This only really leaves Powerlog and we will start testing on that in the next few weeks.

Obviously the old adage of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" applies, but as SP3 is now being pushed out via Windows and MicrosoftUpdate chances are you will get it installed without you noticing too much anyway!

If you find anything different though then please let us know via email or post here so everyone can help work through anything that does crop up!

BootStuff v1.0.4 Beta Release now available.

We're extremely pleased to announce the release of the next product in the new Stuff range - BootStuff which is the new name for Boot-It. It also includes 2 new tests to check for the presence of Soundcards - very usefull for Powerlog Users using plug in sound devices (usb etc.) that may not finish initialising by the time powerlog is starting load.

Nexus v1.0.5 now available to download

Hi All,

We are pleased to announce that Nexus has now completed it's development cycle and is now available as a fully supported Product. The P Squared Development team would like to thank all the Beta Testers who took part in the development process (as well as the 'early adopters' of course) who have all given us some great feedback, and hopefully this shows in the finished product!

The v1.0.5 release is available now from the Nexus v1 Support Pages - http://support.psquared.net/products/nexus/v1.0/

This version contains many new features including support for a new SMS "modem" that you can use to send and recieve SMS Text Messages from your normal studio telephone numbers - i.e. "Call us on 654321, Fax or Text on 123456". More information about the SMS Text Modem can be obtained by contacting your account manager via sales@psquared.net

If you already have an earlier version of Nexus installed please take a moment to copy down all of your current settings as the new version uses a different location to store the settings in so you have to re-setup the system. This only takes a minute though so please don't be put off!

You will also need a new license for Nexus Server as this now uses a different License Code as well.
