HELP- our student union (in their favour) have given us new studio computers-HOWEVER this means the transfer of all Myriad related stuff...although I've done reinstallations in computers, I had nothing to do with the installation of Myriad.

(I look after the rest of the studios, but I'm expanding into automation)

Presumably I (or some passing student) re-install the relevant programmes from the disc (which I have found in a cupboard), but how do I transfer the music? (I see it's all in a big sub-file,it this all 'cut & pasted' in one go, or do I have to put aside several days-although that might not be such a bad thing, as many songs have been renumbered and are hiding! (put old drive in as slave?)

Also, then, when it's all ok, reapply for licence numbers?

If I had all the money I've spent on drink...I'd spend it on drink.

There's two key data sets that you need to copy.

1) The Audiowall.  This has all your .wav files plus 11 .lst files.

2) The Myriad System folder.  Contains sub-folders such as COMMAND, SCHEDULE and LOGS.

Just copy both folders in their entirety.  Standard Windows file copy is fine.

If you're using Myriad v3 then you will also need to copy the P Squared Directory folder and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\PSquared\Myriad v3 key from the registry.  You can use the regedit tool (type it in Start > Run) to export the Myriad v3 key to file that can be copied to the new machine and imported.

License wise, for v3, you will indeed need to re-license the new machine.  However, you will need to release the license from the old machine first.  This option is on the page of the license wizard that tells you what the current license code expiry is.  Myriad v2's license is stored in the Myriad System folder and so should be copied across with everything else.

I would recommend that you download the latest version of Myriad rather than using the one on the CD.  This will ensure that you get all the latest bug fixes and that your system will run as stably as possible.  You can get this from http://support.psquared.net/products

Finally, you didn't mention AutoTrack but if you are using it then you will need to ensure that you copy that too.

If you're not sure about anything I've said here then give us a call or email support.

Thanks for that!

The whole process is complicated by not having a time gap to do the transfer,so most of the work will have to be done after the end of term....however,one anomoly has cropped up already; whilst being licensed for three computers, one was replaced a year or two ago, and (as it wasn't used, presumably) the myriad stuff wasn't copied over. (looking at the utilities bit, our system expects 3 computers, but admits the third hasn't been used for two years!)

I've downloaded the stuff from your site, and for the moment aim to try out one of the new computers (which will be used for training new 'bods'),as a test bed.

How do I get the system to accept the new computer as the (legitimate) replacement for the scrapped one?would renaming the new with the old name do it?

I also aim to put the audio files on yet another (monster) server-will the system accept this (or is this a 4th computer?

Phew,that'll do for the minute!

(PS-it's version 2.6)

If I had all the money I've spent on drink...I'd spend it on drink.

All you need to do to is run Myriad Configuration and go to PowerNet Setup.  Click in the left hand column next to the terminal that you wish to use.  This should a green backed ">" in the column and that machine will then take over the license.

You can find more details in the Myriad manuals which are available here: http://support.psquared.net/products/Myriad/v2.6/default.htm

The best way seemed to be-install myriad to the computer that was EXPECTED to have it, THEN the system seemed happy enough to change the licence over!

Thanks again!
