Hey, we have automatic updates running overnight, and so myriad can get rebooted overnight. We have auto login setup and bootstuff to run myriad, but the auto start thing doesn't kick in, as windows shutdown gracefully.

Is there anyway this can be changed? Unless I close myriad manually, if windows shutdown and myriad is closed by windows, can myriad class that as a unclean shutdown (ie keep the logplaying flag on 1 so when it starts up it auto restarts the log). You could make this an option.

Alternatively is there a command line switch to start myriad playing the log? I found some posted in 2004 on here but they referenced qnxt so not sure if they will still work?

Thanks!

Hi Studentguy,

If you add /LogStart to the command line options on boot stuff myriad will automatically start playout.

I must however advise against automatically installing updates and rebooting immediately as this may cause issues. For example, If the update stops windows booting untiuntil user responds to a question (As often happens with changes to the update service itself) this would leave the system waiting for a respresponse 3am, often at these moment remote access is disabled as the service has not started yet, so you have to be physically at the machine. There is also the possibility that an update would break the operating system, leaving you in the unfortunate position of having a broken system and no idea why.

For these reasons i would recommend that automatic updates is set to notify you but not download and install. Allowing you to choose when to install them and able to monitor the system during this time.

Hope this helps,

John

While I would agree in an ideal situation, unfortunately we're a student station with only one onair studio and pretty much at all times the studio is open the studio is in use, so i'm unable to take over and put the emergency cd on/install updates/reboot in the day, so it either has to be done remotely, or automatically when the studio is locked and not in use at a time when hardly anyone will be listening.

Unfortunately it's not ideal, but it's all I can do! I've never had an issue with automatic updates either, and the myriad server DOESN'T install updates automatically because that would cause chaos!

Cheers for the command, i'll set it up to use it!

Thanks
